JASON'S VISION FOR DISTRICT E
Grocery & Credit Union Opportunity
A full‑service grocery store, paired with a credit union, providing fresh food, jobs and financial security in the Lower Ninth Ward.
Safety & Community Partnerships
We will restore key substations in the Lower Ninth Ward, and reaffirm partnerships with SUNO’s criminal justice program and NOPD to strengthen the officer pipeline, build trust, ensure public safety, and bring real community policing.
Revitalized Recreation & Youth Spaces
The Sam Bonart Playground and other community sites will be activated, properly maintained, and safe for our children, because our youth deserve places to grow, play, and belong.
Accountability & Economic Revitalization
I will hold negligent landlords accountable. Long-neglected commercial sites like Plaza Drive and East Lake Plaza have sat untouched for years. I will rebuild our local economy not just one site, but every corridor in District E. From New Orleans East through the Lower Ninth Ward, we will remove blight, attract investment and secure a future that reflects the pride of this community.
Housing & Community Restoration
The Lower Ninth Ward was once a beacon of homeownership. We will comprehensively rebuild that legacy through housing partnerships, incentives, and significant investments. I’m committed to working with the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA), local developers, and partners like General Honoré to expand housing, attract investment, and bring families back home. The Lower Nine deserves a city that’s a partner in progress, not a barrier.
Fiscal Discipline & Transparency
As Vice Chair of the Louisiana House Appropriations Committee, I’ve helped manage a $50 billion budget. I’ll bring that discipline to City Hall to make sure our neighborhoods aren’t last in line for services or attention.
LOWER NINTH WARD
Before Katrina, the Lower Ninth Ward was the beacon of Black homeownership in New Orleans. I’m committed to helping rebuild that legacy, not just in words, but in action. It’s time for City Hall to be a partner in progress, not a barrier.
My priorities for the Lower Nine:
- A full-service grocery store with a credit union for food, jobs, and financial stability
- Restore police substations and partner with SUNO & NOPD to ensure real community policing
- Expand housing with NORA and trusted developers
- Reclaim Sam Bonart Playground and youth spaces for safe, vibrant community life
- Fiscal discipline and fair budgeting to ensure resources finally reach the Lower Nine
NEW ORLEANS EAST
District E doesn’t have a crime problem or a people problem, it has an image problem. It’s time to change that. I’ve already helped reconstitute the long-dormant New Orleans Regional Business Park board. Now I want to do more.
Here’s my vision for revitalizing New Orleans East:
- Enforce accountability for absentee landlords and clean up commercial corridors like Plaza Drive and East Lake Plaza
- Rebuild our corridors, attract investment, and revitalize every major site, from the Six Flags site to Lincoln Beach
- Transparency in city budgeting, to make sure our area isn’t last in line
- Support youth, seniors, and working families with safe public spaces, honest leadership, and clear oversight
